Happy Kansas Day!

Happy Kansas Day!

It was on this date in 1861 that Kansas was admitted to the Union as the 34th state and became the 34th star on the American flag. Kansas also joined the Union as a Free State and less than three months later, the American Civil War began.

We hope you'll find a way to celebrate the state, its people and rich history today, during the state's 164th birthday.

One way to celebrate is to make a contribution to Kansas Public Radio. We love the Sunflower State and have been serving the people of Kansas every day since September 15, 1952. Thanks for supporting us.
